Illustrator CS2

I have created a logo (high resolution) and layout for large sign.  The sign company has requested the file be exported as an older version of illustrator to reduce the file size.  Acceptable formats are .ai or .eps but they want nothing larger than 100-300kb.  Everything I've tried still creates a 1 or 2 meg file.   He mentioned "outlines"...
