1. Corel's barcode wizard includes the clear zone around the bar code. The bar code must have a white background which extends a specific distance around the barcode. The wizard includes a white box to the correct dimensions. A barcode on a yellow background is invalid.
2. Corel has a trace function for creating vectors from a raster image. It's never been good enough for my use, nor has any other tracing program for that matter. I always end up manually drawing vectors using the image as a template. I'm sure it's good enough for some less discerning users, though, perhaps good enough for your application. Corel has an excellent Help resource if you need assistance. Unfortunately, my current employer doesn't have CorelDRAW so I have nothing to refer to.
