The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Determining if the users mouse is within the flash movie window

Asked by bmccleary in Macromedia Flash

I have an embedded flash movie in a web page (approx. 350px by 650px), where if the user moves thier mouse over the flash area, then a specific movie clip starts playing depending upon the position of the mouse.  There are basically 4 sections (each of the 4 corners) in the flash presentation that the user can move their mouse over to view different movie clips.  When the movie clip is over, then it determines where the mouse position is in the flash area, then plays a different movie depending upon the mouse position.  This works fine, but if the mouse is no longer over any of the flash area, then the presentation doesn't know the mouse position.  I need the presentation to know that the mouse is over some other portion of the web page, and not over the flash area, then goto the first frame and stop if this is true.  I would like something like "if <FlashIsNotActive> then goto frame 1".  You can see an example of this at:
http://216.183.121.37/guide.asp  If you rollover any of the 4 corner quadrents, then quickly move your mouse outside of the flash area, then then instead of going back to the first frame, it stays stuck at the last clip the user was viewing.  Please let me know if this makes sense and if you can help me!  Thanks!Start Free Trial
