Question

Dollar sign and Paper icon - vector

I am trying to find icons of a dollar sign and a paper icon, but i am having a really hard time. I keep searching and I get old looking bad clipart and ones I dont want. I have been to many sites for icons and tried google, with no luck.

Do you know of any sites that would have a smooth looking/web 2.0 aspect of an icon? Does that make sense? I tried to find an example, but no luck.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

Hi Ryan

you can try to find this kind of graphics on some website like i

      <a href='http://istockphoto.com/eagleeyez' target='_blank'><img src='http://istockphoto.com/images/referral_badges/88x20_blu.gif' border='0' alt='View My Portfolio'></a>

or get it made by a freelance designer like me (anwar.b.t@gmail.com)

Do you use any microsoft products (Word or PowerPoint)?

I often use the clipart at microsoft's site (and then I often paste it into illustrator or CorelDraw and ungroup it and change it)

You can do that with any .wmf (windows metafile).

If you have any microsoft office product, such as powerpoint, use the insert picture>clipart>clips online to get to the microsoft online clipart.  Or try this link: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/default.aspx?cag=1

You can also use the method I described to combine clipart (say you find a good dollar sign and then a good paper icon, you can put them both in your illustration software and combine them)

I am looking more towards smoother icons, than clipart, looks too cheezy. I will check that out, but I feel that the results arent going to be great.

Any other ideas of some icons? Also interested in buying them as well? Icon websites? Good stock photos for vector illustration?

www.clipart.com is only 14.95 for a week. Several sites have joined together on that site now (Comstock Complete, Comstock Images, Thinkstock Images, Photos.com, PhotoObjects.net, Jupiterimages Unlimited, AbleStock.com, Animation Factory or FlashFoundry.com) I can't really tell if the images are any good because you have to pay to see them (not a good idea in my opinion!)

Most of the clipart sites online are awful or just a teaser with links to various other awful sites.

Hopefully a few of the ones I have listed have something you might be able to use.

The best icon collection that I have found yet can be found here...
http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/

It has 1000 different icons (including a dollar sign and lots of paper).  The only drawback is that they only come in 16x16 pixel png's.  Sorry, no vectors.
