How do I open a JPEG in Lightroom 2?

Yes this is absolutely ridiculous but another person and I have been trying for awhile to just open a photo in Lightroom 2 and cannot do it.

How do you do it?

You don't just open an image in LightRoom - you need to import it first. Once it's in LightRoom, you just edit it.

I get that but how do I import it? It won't let me just import a JPEG. Is there some sort of setup I need to do?

I've tried to drag and drop like Photoshop but that won't work.

When you are in the Library module, there is an "Import" button in the lower left corner. You can also use File>Import Photos from Disk.
