--> Question: The Photoshop 5.5 psd file I am opening in Illustrator 9 looks very pixelly. What am I doing wrong? Isn't Photoshop 5.5 vector images?
More info:
I am preparing artwork designed by an artist with Photoshop. She's super cool, but Photoshop 5.5 is the only program she feels comfortable with and doesn't want to deal with Illustrator.
She's teamed up with me to make stuff like envelopes/letterhead/busin
I'm used to Illustrator and details such as CD disc artwork, but I'm stuck with this. I don't want to create the whole thing again in Illustrator.
Thanks in advance!

Photoshop never has and NEVER will be a vector program. Photoshop is for dealing with raster images, illustrator is for dealing with vector images. When you place a raster image in an illustrator document youre getting a proxy image, meaning that not all the information is displayed. All the information will be printed though. You also have to be careful that you NOT resize the raster image in illustrator and to keep your DPI appropriate in the linked raster image. The reality is that to do the job right you need to know both programs. They are not meant to be used exclusively but rather as a toolkit. You CAN use illustrator for laying out raster and vector images but you need to do your raster editing in Photoshop and your vector editing in Illustrator.
