The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I use Imageready slices, (solid color; black), that are in a table, as my text input and password input, without messing up the layout of my site?

Asked by djlotus in Adobe Photoshop

I have been struggeling for weeks now with this. I have an image all sliced up that I am going to use for a website. After reading through alot of the solutions posted here I still have a problem. I use Imageready to generate the code using CSS. I then jump to Dreamweaver to make edits. The slices in question are for the "name" and "password" of my login. I have tried everything I can think of to constrain the size of the text input boxes to fit the size of the slice, to no avail. My layout breaks apart everytime. I am not well versed in CSS, but I know a little. No matter what I select for the backround color, or backround image, the boxes appear white, and much too big. I have tried to edit the boxes through "coder"view in the "CSS Styles" area also. Nothing changes. I have the entire area of the login sliced up, with images surrounding the input boxes.

I know from reading through the solutions that noone really likes using Imageready for generating code, but I am too impatient to learn new things. What I am looking  for is a work around to this problem, that will allow me to restrict the size of the input boxes, height and width, and font size as well, to the size of the slice I wish to have it "in".

First of all, I need to know if this is possible. I have seen small input boxes on lots of sites, so I "assume" it is.

Secondly, how can I go about doing this in Dreamweaver? If this is a pain for anyone to dive into, I would at least appreciate some links to some articles or tutorials that can clear this up for me.

Thanks in advance.Start Free Trial
