What about using the "Tile" feature when printing? This usually allows you to print the image full size and the printer creates separate pages that you have to tape together to see the whole thing.

Browse All TopicsHi,
Quite often I generate images in GraphViz that are much larger than a single A4 page - they may be wider, or deeper, or boty .. perhaps up to a dozen A4 pages. I have essentially no control over the image dimensions.
What I want to do is to develop a script (an action) in Photoshop CS that will take any large original image, chop it up into A4 sized pieces, and print them in some sensible sequence, such that I can tape them together.
(My printer will do borderless.)
How can I do this?
All help appreciated. Thanks
ps I don't want to use Excel.

Here are instructions for printing "tiles"
http://help.adobe.com/en_U
I forgot to mention that Photoshop won't do the tiles, but Acrobat will (and Illustrator will)
For an action, you could set up one that does this:
Create a page size that you can print. Move your image to the left and top and save. Move the image to again to show what wasn't showing, and save as a new file. Then make as many moves and save the files.

Thanks for the help DeeDee and ER.
ER .. I did indeed have a "poster print" option on my Canon Pixma printer, and it works vey nicely .. even printing the words cut and paste on the appropriate edges (which is actually quite handy when assembling a multipage pasetup).
Rasterbator sounds interesting, but I could neither upload an image nor download the exe .. seems the server must be down.
DeeDee .. the Acrobat solution works fine, and shows optional cut marks. As for the Photoshop action, I couldn't see a way of making the move precise, nor did I think that it would really work for all possible types of images (like wide and narrow vs skinny and tall).
Thank you both

Some printers have a "poster print" option that will do it for you. Look in your printer settings. Or, you could check out the Rasterbator at: http://homokaasu.org/raste rbator/
