The pictures could also be corrupted. Do they display correctly on your PC? If they do display correctly, can you resave the file and see if it works on the frame?

Some files (photos) only display as an error message: a red circle enclosing a white "x" on top of a "document" image. There is nothing in either manufacturer's documentation that is of any help. The same files/photos display properly in Windows explorer and Photoshop. Likewise, the images display correctly on the digital frame in "preview mode" which is a thumbnail size. However, when the frame is in slideshow mode displaying the photos, every 3rd or 4th photo displays as this error. I've tried different memory cards (SD vs. CF vs. Internal memory). I changed the resolution on each individual file to match the resolution of the frame (800x600). The problem continues. HELP!

Hi,
The "digital photo frame" is basically an LCD screen which display digital photo files. Since most of my pictures are large size files, I thought of that and changed the resolution of each picture file to match the resolution of the screen (800x600 for vertical and 600x800 for horizontal). I'm looking into the file extensions. I know this should be simple, but Windows explorer isn't showing them to me. Any ideas on that?
The photos display correctly on my PC; and I did resave each file when I changed the resolution... it did not seem to make a difference. Some of the file names start with a "_" Could that make a difference?
I have had a similar problem with my frame. It turned out the program I used to crop and adjust the photos would save the new file as interlaced. I changed it to non-interlaced with low compression (high quality) and the issue went away. Try resaving the files on your PC, varifying the JPG properties.
I'd also double-check to make sure you are actually copying files, not shortcuts. Then, as delphineous said, check out the compression method on the photos.
Do random 3/4th photos just display red x and white...or is it consistently the same ones. If it is random, your issue is very elusive, but it would probably be (RAM) memory oriented, and you may want to try higher compression, or see if a photo has a file-size limit to it. It it is consistent, then as mentioned, it has to do with the file types and properties.

Not sure I understand the question.
However, I can think of two things that can be causing this problem: the file suffix (jpg or jpeg?), or the file size. I suspect the latter - this sounds like a memory problem.
Please check, and come back, also, can you explain a bit more what you're doing with these images. What do you mean by "digital photo frame".
