I want to try your solution, but for some reason the record action button is greyed out. Do you have any idea what I might have done to disable it? How do I re-enable it.
Also what do you mean by "convert the image to a layer "? How do I do that?

PS should record effects without any issues. just make sure that you convert the image to a layer before applying the Wrap transform effect becuase it doesn't work on the flatten images.
Recording the actions by starting with converting the flatten image into a layer, then apply the glass effect and then the Wrap one. It should work fine this way for other images.
