Question

Is there a way to draw concentric circles?

Asked by: fiazf

E.g. one circle with a diameter of 2cm, then another circle around it with a diameter of 3cm and then another 4cm etc ) ) )
Attached is a file that I did in word, but I am not sure if the circles are all positioned around one central point. I just adjusted their position using the cursor keys.

In Ms Word there is an align option.

For 2007. After selecting the circles goto the Design tab and click on align option, select align center and align middle.

For 2003. I think the options are on the drawing toolbar, or picture toolbar. Here is reference for 2003:

If you want to use VBA, a macro like this will do the job.

Sub DrawConcentric()
Dim sh As Word.Shape
Dim wrdAnchorRange As Word.Range
Dim iShapeCount As Integer
Dim x As Single
Dim y As Single
Dim sLeft As Single
Dim sTop_ As Single
Dim sWidth As Single
Dim sHeight As Single
Dim sIncrement As Single
Dim s As Integer

iShapeCount = 20
sIncrement = 20
x = 200
y = 200
Set wrdAnchorRange = ActiveDocument.Paragraphs(1).Range
For s = 1 To iShapeCount
    sLeft = (x - s * sIncrement) / 2
    sTop_ = (y - s * sIncrement) / 2
    sWidth = s * sIncrement
    sHeight = s * sIncrement
    Set sh = ActiveDocument.Shapes.AddShape(msoShapeOval, sLeft, sTop_, sWidth, sHeight, wrdAnchorRange)
    sh.Fill.Visible = False
Next s
End Sub

In MS Word, I don't have a design tab.

Also another question for you all, is it possible to label the concentric circles for example to have somewhere in the circle, in the lower half the number 1, then 2, etc. I've inserted two using text boxes, but not very ideal. I've attached another sample.

In word 2007 the design tab will appear after selecting a drawing object (ie. a circle). In word 2003, it is either in the picture or drawing tool bar (can't remember which one).

Not sure how you would align the labels. You might want to change the fill colour of the labels to none (make them transparent).

you can do labeling in corell draw same idea:

1. draw little lable - circle
2. put number on it
3. group it  (select all and press ctrl+G)
4. put on the first circle
5. select drug and hold!!!!!!!!  left mouse locate the labele (still hold!!!!!!!!!! the left mouse button) when located this new circle (keep holding left mouse button) right click mouse button and the duplicate will appear
6. just go ctr+D to the end of the other cicrcles
7. just go and change the numbering

in photoshop cs3:

choose the right tool:
- select the the Ellipse Tool
- make sure it is Shape Layers from the option bar, top of the photoshop

drawing your circle:
- F8 to open the info palate
- change it to the inches or what ever you want
- draw your circle
- Ctrl+J to duplicate your layer
- Ctrl + T
- enlarge it while holding Ctrl+Shift key
- press enter
- duplicate the new layer
- Shift+Ctrl+T, to transform with the last value you applied to first duplicated layer
- repeat :), and repeat :), and .... do not stop until you get enough

stroking:
- select any layer
- double click it
- select stroke
- go to blending options: default
- change fill opacity to 0
- click ok
- right click the layer again
- choose Copy Layer Style
- select all layers
- right click any layer
- paste layer style
