make photos the same size - cs2
Say I have about 6 photos in photoshop and I want to make them all the same size. What is the best way to do this?
I see how to do it, but I want them to all the the correct proportion as well and not be stretched.
Was wondering if there is a simple way to do it? I'm using Photoshop CS2

You can only auto resize a photo without affecting its aspect ratio (avoid streching) if your photos have the same aspect ratio from its original size. example, 8x6, 12x9, 16x12 photos can be resized to 4x3 without streaching or losing any detail of the image. If your photo have different aspect ratio, you have to decide wether to crop or stretch the non proportional parts.
Just in case your photos are having the same aspect ratio you can use actions to automate the resizing method.
Here's the concept of automating the photo resize.
From the looks of it, you'll be able to understand this tutorial and apply according to your purpose so i won't create something to accomplish exactly what you desire. It looks like you can find your way there.

In case your images have different aspect ratios, You can apply the tutorial in order to first crop your image automatically to have same aspect ratio then apply the resize which will lead you to your original objective.

Click on Windows tab and select Actions.
In the Actions window, go to the bottom, and press the button next to the bin icon, which will make a new action. Press OK to record. Open your image, and resize it to the size that you like, and then press ctrl + shift + s to save as, select your extension, and then close the image. Now back in the actions window, press the stop button.
Make sure all your images are in the same folder, and go to file -> automate -> batch.
Select the action, and select the folder, and then press automate.
Vuah Lah! Images resized and saved automatically.

You will need to play around with the combinatino of 'Image Size' and 'Canvas Size'. For eg: if you want all the pics to be 500x500, then you will need to go to Image Size and change either the height or width to 500. Make sure the 'constrain proportions' option is selected. Then change the canvas size height or width to make the picture 500x500. There might be some picture cut from the height or width depending on whether you are decreasing the width or the height in the Canvas Size.
For eg: if you have a pic of 1000px x 1200px, then select the one which is the smaller dimension. Here width is smaller (1000px). So go to Image Size and make it 500px with the 'Constrain Proportions' selected. This way the image size will become 500px x 600px. Now go to 'Canvas Size' and reduce the height to 500px. As mentioned earlier, when you decrease the Canvas Size, you might loose a little bit of your image. But without doing so, it is impossible to make two different pictures having different image ratios to exactly same size without having them stretched.
