join images im gimp
i have 2 images from a sliding door technique. I want to join the 2 images together , use a color gradient on the images and then save them both.
Unles there is a way to get the same color gaedient on both images seperatley? I thought color gradient you need to use the mouse and so it might not be eact for different images.
I am using Gimp

The simplest solution is as follows:
- make copy of your files
- open tcr4.gif
- Image > Mode > RGB (because otherwise you have not enough colors to make a gradient - see Dialogs > Color Map)
- make gradient as you wanted (I have feeling, you have plan how to do it)
- save the picture;
- I would save it in PNG format instead of GIF because the gradient will be smoother; if you want to save if in GIF, go to Image > Mode > Indexed, with Optimum palette before saving
- look how wide your tcl4.gif image is and notice the number
- save the picture under the "left" name (tcl4.gif or tcl4.png)
- Image > Transform > Flip horizontally
- Image > Canvas Size > click on chain near Width and Height; then type the width from step 7 in the field Width
- now you have the new left part - save it :-))

If you have problems with gradient (e.g. look at your white pixels in corners), let me know. It is very easy to make tabs like attached one :-)) In last answer I wanted to give you solution to your problem/question, but I think it is easier to start from scratch to avoid problems in step 4.

A simple solution is to define an image with gradient, copy it, and add as a layer to each of original pictures. The precize instructions depend on what you actually want.
Could you send us one of yours pictures with gradient? What I am interested is if the gradient goes from one color to another or from one color to transparency.
In the example below is how I've understood your need.
A swan with gradient from orange to transparent.
