In recent versions of GIMP there are two parameters which determine size of a brush:
- Brush (there you can choose if you want hard-edge or feathered brush, and shape of the brush, too)
- Scale
I use GIMP for clipping the background from images , but I work the pen tool of gimp , now while working on very close points like removing background under the hairs etc I feel very problam because gimp's pen tool counters(nods) appears like very big round circles , even after zooming the image the counter points appears very big..how can I reduce the size of them?

Node handles are at each zoom level of the same size and they get smaller than pixels when the image is zoomed enough (I am looking now at 1600% at two computers). Keep zooming...

If you use the pencil tool for hard-edge painting, you should be able to get as fine as you want while zoomed at 800%. Select th smallest circle for very fine work.
