How do I open upgraded iphoto files with earlier version?

I installed OS X 10.4.9 onto a network Mini Mac, which then accessed iPhoto albums stored on the server. Unfortunately it upgraded all the photos and now no other Mac running OS X 10.3.9 and iPhoto 4 on the network cannot open them! The users get a mesage saying "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto." Please can you tell me if there is a solution? Either downgrading the files or a utility that can allow the users to access the oics.

iPhoto didn't change the pictures, it only changed the library.  Go to the location the photos are stored, delete the library file, and start over.  The photos you had will be in the "Original" and "Modified" folders.

iPhoto 6 upgraded the auto-generated thumbnails, reorganised the photos and rebuilt the library file to a newer format to support the newer features it has.

There's another problem you may find .. iPhoto 1-5 organised photos by year, month,date whereas iPhoto 6 has 2 root folders Originals and Modified. The result is that you might have a lot of duplicated photos when you allow iPhoto 4 to re-index your photos .. You'll also have lost all your albums, slideshows and keywords.

I STRONGLY suggest that you DO NOT delete the library file as only the current Library file (the one upgraded by iPhoto 6) sill contains all your albums, keywords etc.

Thanks very much to you both for responding so quickly. Can I check this with you first. If I browse to the originals folder and import them through an iMac running iPhoto 4. Will this also create a single folder/album with all the photos in it and if so, will it allow all the other iMacs with iPhoto 4 to access them in the new location. Yes?
