The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

iPhoto 08 There were errors installing the software when trying to install just iPhoto

Asked by ParadiseITS in iPhoto Photo Software, Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger)

My PowerBook 12"867's hard drive up and died on me over the weekend...  so I've got a nice shiny new 80GB 7200rpm drive I put in it and have OS X 10.4.10 installed, updated and all that...

All my pictures were in iPhoto 08 on my previous system, I can copy the iPhoto DB without a problem (whew!) but when I was done with my intial install of OS X and update, the first thing I tried to install was iPhoto 08.  And as soon as I put in my password to allow the install it gave me "There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again"

So, I thought to myself... well.. last time I hade the entire iLife 2004 suite installed and did an upgrade, so maybe that's the problem...  so I installed iLife 04 (iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand...) and tried the install again... same error.  Found a friend who had the iLife DVD too and tried his thinking my media was corrupted but nope...  still same error.

Anyone have any insight here?  I know Macs pretty well, but just started using iLife a few months ago... can I convert my iPhoto DB?  How can I get iPhoto installed...?Start Free Trial
