The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

iPhoto 09 Extremly Slow, Convert to 08?

Asked by TheJoeShmoe in iPhoto Photo Software, Mac OS X

Hello,

I have upgraded to iPhoto 09 some time ago, but for some reason it is unbearably slow.  I have a fairly large library of about 44 Gigs, and in iPhoto 09 it is so slow it is essentially unusable.  It is slow to load, and slow to use.  For example, if I try and scroll down through my many events -- it hangs for some time and after a long time it will move down.  If I try to start a slide show, it takes forever to start.  Pretty much anything I do in reguards to iPhoto is extremly slow.  Everything else on my computer (2.4 ghz, 4 gigs ram) is very snappy.

I have rebuilt the whole library using the instructions here which seemed to help slightly, but it is still extremely slow: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638 (I checked all boxes in the options and did the rebuild).

I think perhaps I should switch back to iPhoto 08.  Can I do this though?  Do I need to convert the library somehow from iPhoto 09 to iPhoto 08.  I don't remember ever having any issues with iPhoto 08.

Or - does any one have any ideas on what I could do to fix my iPhoto 09?

Thanks so much for your help in advance!
