The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? Looking for the best bitmap to vector conversion software money can buy!

This is a pretty straight-forward question.

I have a number of large (typical size 2K x 2K pixels) and pretty complex line bitmap drawings (1 bit and 8 bit monochrome) and I need to convert them to vector drawings. The Output can be Adobe Illustrator or AutoCAD; actually the output format is not nearly as important as the quality of the rendering.

Criteria:
- cost of software is not a concern (any price up to $2000.00)
- quality/accuracy of bitmap to vector conversion is all that I care about

Pretty simple huh?

What I've tried?
Corel Draw X3 bitmap to vector tool.  Results: Much less than adequate!
Adobe Illustrator's conversion tool (to be fair, it was an older version) and it was worse than Corel. I don't know if CS2 or 3 would be better.

This question needs to be answered by someone who actually uses bitmap to vector conversion tools and like me, requires as good as a human as possible accuracy. Alternatively, links to reviews that discuss this topic and help me make an informed decision will also be appreciated.
