asked on

add on from Zeon corporation

Looking for an alternative PDF reader I must have downloaded something from "Zeon Corporation". Since then, if I want to open any PDF file in my browser a window appears "This page wants to run the following add-on 'Zeon corporation' from 'Zeon Corporation. If I click on "Allow" and then clic then an internet security window appears asking me if I want to run this ActriveX control from Zeon Corporation (publisher) and I hit the "run" he page fills with 30 pages of gibberish (see attached sample). I was trying to remove the damn thing, but it is not listed as a program neither it is listed as an add-on. I tried to communicate this issue directly to the "Zeon Corporation" company describing the problem in the help section on their website five days ago, no response.

I assume that you are working on a PC and not a Mac. Is the browser that you are using Internet Explorer and if so what version.

I was looking for an alternative to Adobe PDF reader / converter and I downloaded your free version of the Nuance PDF reader to test drive your product. This was a result:

Every time I try to open a PDF file in my browser a following bar appears: This webpage wants to run Add-on: 'Zeon Corporation from Zeon Corporation' and a window "allow" If I click on "Allow" a security warning pops out asking me if I want to run the program. If I click the "Run" window, it takes a while and then the page appears as a gibberish of letters and signs and a window indicating "A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab" and the webpage is gone, can't be recovered. There is no indication in my list of programs that I have anything from Zeon installed, also in “add on” list there is no mention of anything from Zeon. This is extremely frustrating and it hampers my productivity. Please advice how to get rid of this problem.

I  contacted Zeon Corporation an the answer was: Even if you have never used a DocuCom product, it's quite possible you have an OEM product of ours such as Nuance PDF Pro or various other PDF Readers. Please tell me what PDF programs you have installed on your computer right now or in the past, and also what the default program for viewing PDF files is in Windows. Also, what browser are you using and what version (I assume it is the latest version of IE if you are a Windows 7 user)?

Yes, I do have installed a free Nuance PDF reader and I also have Adobe Reader 9. I am using IE 9 Version 9.0.7930.16406 and MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

You should contact Nuance support with this problem. The Reader is released by them and we would not be able to speculate as to what the problem is. Good luck.
