The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Flash photo fade performance

Asked by webstudiointeractive in ActionScript, Macromedia Flash

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why my Flash photo gallery is experiencing major lag on some photos, and not others.

This is the development version of a website I'm working on:

http://fullframe.com.au/a/ffsite01.html

To test - please go to Gallery > Advertising, and then click the three images at the bottom of page.

You will notice the first and second photos have a jumpy and undesirable fade, but the third, which is the largest of all - has a smooth fade?!

The code I'm using here is:

var tw = new mx.transitions.Tween(whichPhoto, "_alpha", mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeOut, 0, 100, 1, true);

I've also tried removing "true" from the end to use a number of frames (instead of fading for 1 second, as that script above says, fade for 7 frames for example).  This produces an identical result.

The following website seems to have no problem with even larger photos, and they seem to be using the same tween class:  http://www.brook-pifer.com/

I'm beginning to think it's because that one photo that fades well is larger than the screen size?? I just want a nice, fast fade like on Brook Pifer's site.   Please help - 500 points if you can answer this!Start Free Trial
