Simple time delay AS3

All I am looking for is some simple, bar bones code that will delay 3 seconds before it goes to the next frame.

I have been trying to get this to work... no luck

var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(500);
myTimer.addEventListener(timer, timedFunction);
 
Start the timer
myTimer.start();
 
 
function timedFunction(eventArgs:TimerEvent)
{
     gotoAndStop(2);

simply use "setTimeout" function...
below is the code:
