Ah... I think I understand what you meant by that screen based document thingy... I don't think Flash CS3 and above supports that, and the Flash source file that uses such feature can only use AS2... So, your attempt to use AS3 should fail obviously... Your only option is either to stick with AS2 or code everything in AS3 if you choose to use AS3...

Sorry... I have never used that template before, so I can't help you there...
What I can tell you is that there are many types of image gallery tutorials out there... I suggest you do a google search on terms like 'photo gallery actionscript3 tutorial' and see which one is close to what you are looking for... Learn what's said in the tutorial and change the look of it to fit your need...
Besides that probably deserves another topic cuz that's totally different from your original question...

I am not familiar with the error message you mentioned... Maybe you can copy and paste it for me???
There are times when you get similar error message such as when you dragged a AS2 specific component and try to publish for AS3 or vice versa...
