Book Recommendations

Hi all,

Typical situation, boss comes up to me and says "Learn Flash and become an expert at it in a week" so here I am. Has anyone got recommendations on good books about FLASH from beginner to advanced level.

BTW, I know squat about FLASH. I used it once when it first came out to move a picture from one side to the other and thats is about it. hehe

After a quick browse of amazon the Flash MX Bible (Bible) and Macromedia Flash MX ActionScript Bible (Bible) look like good books. Anyone got anything for or against them?

after a quick browse of flash, I realise it uses XML and C looking code, I am proficient at these so don't need any book that explains C and XML, only flash specific things.

Alot of their books are unpublished, especially one of the ones I would be after "Foundation Flash MX".

i have Foundation Actionscript and Actionscrip Studio. and they really help out. they always give good examples that explain everything in detail.

yeah, but if you know flash 5, its practically the same thing, just a few new componets and such.

nutz, When I was looking at FLASH MX (Bible) last week, it was a non-best seller and 40 pounds to come with the Action Script (Bible).

This week, its 60 pounds for the two and individually they are twice the price. And they are the second best seller on Amazon within 1 week.

Lucky for me its Company money and not mine. Still.. would have been nice to save a bit.

Honestly, when I first attempted to absorb all that flash has to offer, it wasn't till about 30 days later that I felt confident in very basic abilities.  These large Bible books, and I've read several, will probably only confuse you as to which concepts are the most important to grasp first.

For a beginner, I'd definitely give the visual series a try.  For instance, TEACH YOURSELF VISUALLY FLASH 5.
