Question

Flash Stage Environment Font Problem

Asked by: flavacrave

This is an interesting one that I can't figure out through Microsoft... thought I'd check here:

When I open my flash environment the font that is being used by the system is almost completely unreadable.  For example when I open up a new document and a blank stage is on the screen I can barely make out the items in the properties window (background, publish, size, Untitled-1).  I can't tell if it is trying to use a specific font as the default and how to change it.

Any help would be wonderful, my eyes need a break.

hello flavacrave,

what about the regional settings from the control pannel ??

what's ur default language. ? set it to english.

kanary.

Regional settings are correct: English.

The problem is that it is almost unreadable English - I think a screen shot would work best - can I attach one here?

Thanks - Marc.

I checked through all of my fonts to see if any of those could be messing it up and found a sydnie font that could be the culpret.  However, I can't find the sydnie font to delete it!  It shows up in word, but not in the font folder.

Anyway, is there a setting in the macromedia products that allows me to set the default font (for the environment and not the stage) to something else?  I can't seem to find it...

Thanks.

hello flavacrave,

i think this font can be changes from the appearance settings.

right click on desktop then choose properties.
go to appearance tab, then look at the fonts used, specially menu fonts.

u can change them from there.

hope this helps,
kanary.

I tried that too and to no avail - still have the problem...

I also just found out that the Sydnie font comes with Quicktime.  I thought that removing quicktime and the fonts might work, but it didn't.

Now I am at a loss.

Alright, I am getting somewhere... after ensuring that other people have installed FLASH MX on XP with no problem I have decided it is definitely a problem with my computer.

I have also figured out how to fix the problem in Dreamweaver!  I was able to go into Dreamweaver, click Edit --> Preferences...

Then clicked Accessibility.. there is a checkbox "Make Dreamweaver Use Large Fonts".  I did that and it worked!!  I can now read the insert tabs!

I can't find the same area in flash - anyone have an idea?

Thanks.
