Thanks negatyve; what I meant by creating a new version is that I was saving with a new file name. That works all the time. I've never actually lost my work, but having to create 2-3 duplicate files daily is ridiculous.
This could be a time synchronization problem. It makes sense when you look at it from a network administrator's POV, and could also explain why I had problems when saving to the local drive too; the time stamp of the file doesn't match the system clock time (???).
Let me check this tomorrow. If it is a sychronization problem then the points are yours!

Happened to me too, and the first worked. Sometimes I just create a new file and it works..
