The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Adjusting an .swf file

Asked by StayingAwake in Adobe Flash

Tags: adjusting, file, swf

I know this question has been asked a million times before, but here me out. I designed an entire site for a company in Flash. I put about 60 hours of work into it, and about 3 days after posting the final version of the site, my hard drive blew up. (Well, "mechanical damage" is what the data recovery place told me). The company I designed the site for now has a couple of tiny text changes they'd like to make. I can't afford the price of the data recovery, (And yes, I know I should have backed up), and I don't have the time to re-create the whole site.

I've tried a few demo versions of .swf to .fla converters/decompilers, but none of them seem to do that great of a job. The site is fairly complex, and everything gets screwed up in the conversion. I only need to do a couple of simple name changes to a "contact us" page.

Does anyone know of a GOOD converter, or is there a way for me to import the .swf file I still have (saved on the server), and make some tiny changes. I can actually place a box over the existing text and then put  new text over that if I have to. I just don't know what to do. I am the legitimate creator of the .swf file, and I'm not trying to rip off someone else's design.

Please help!

And thanks,

-Masen
