The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can't get IE to load XML data for Flash MP3 player

Asked by winglis4 in Adobe Flash

Tags: load, flash, playlist, ie, xml

This may be an HTML question, but I thought I'd ask it here since you Flash Experts may have run into this problem before.
What this page does (should do) is:
A page in the root folder of my site uses this open source mp3 player that is in the /flash dir. The flash movie uses a playlist.php script (in the same /flash  folder as the swf) to generate a XML playlist from a mysql query.

To get the swf to use the playlist.php you send a html variable to the swf - see the <object> code at bottom here.

When the XML file loads, the flash player displays the song Title and (obviuosly) loads and plays the mp3.
It works great in Firefox and Netscape, but not in IE. IE loads the swf, but doesn't even load the XML - no song Title is displayed.
I can remove all the <embed> stuff and it'll still work in Firefox/Netscape.
Also, I have the fla if any actionscript is needed to be shown.

Here's my code for using the flash movie:

<object
      type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
      data="flash/mp3player_small.swf?playlist=flash/playlist.php"
      width="300" height="150" wmode="transparent">
        <param name="movie" value="flash/mp3player_small.swf" />
      <embed src="flash/mp3player_small.swf"
            quality="high"
            type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
            data="flash/mp3player_small.swf?playlist=flash/playlist.php"
            width="300" height="150">
      </embed>
</object>
Thanks much,
winglis4
