also, is it easy switch btw the 2? just amidst so much project now i hate to do a switch during this busy period.

You can get 8 and still save fils in 2004 format. YOu can, of course, open files from 2004 in 8. It will ask you if you want to convert, but you can decline it. The obvious point is that you will not be able to do some of the cool version 8 things and save them in 2004 (not without some sacrifices). I would go to version 8, hands down.
