Newbie at Flash, Help Required

Hi all,

Well I guess the time has come to try my hand at some Flash, I had dabbled about with it in the Days of Flash 4, but havnt touched it since, however it has come along way and I would like to get an idea as to how some things are done, mainly so that I can just make a personal website out of it to test it on and hopefuly build my skills, I have looked over several tutorials and examples at flashkit.com & deviantart.com

Well my main question really is I found a nice button and would like some help in trying to recreate something similar found here:

My goal would be to be able to build something similar along the lines of that example, but not ripping it off.

So heres hoping I can learn enough over the next few months of you flash experts and hopefuly start helping out in this TA to :-)
