HELP!!!!! Flash document failed to open....
EMERGENCY!!!! I have a flash slide presentation with over 100 hours of work in it that is giving me the error "failed to open document" whenever i attempt to open the file. I have tried using file open. I have tried opening it on another computer and I have checked it with disk utility (which supposedly finds no errors). I had no problems with the file last night, and now I cant get to it. Please help!!!!

It was created and I'm trying to open it in Flash MX2004. I'm the only one who's touched the file, and it's only been on my computer. I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that I used the flash slide presentation option, which I've found is full of issues???
nothing much to do here......flash files are notorious for getting corrupted!
the one thing which i try in such situations is to COPY the file to another location and then open it....i know it's funny....but it works sometimes :)
and if it doesn't for you, then the next option from my side is to use a swf decompiler like Sothink ( http://www.sothink.com/product/flashdecompiler/ ) to get the fla back into shape!
good luck :)

Thanks for the advice. No luck with the copying and pasting.
I am on a mac so the decomplier will not work. I tried to download a mac version, but evidently it didnt support slides.
I guess this will teach m about not backing up files!

The file is 173.3MB... yet another cause of the problem, perhaps? Is there an email address that I could send you a link to, or an ftp site I could upload to?
zip the file, it will reduce the size by atleast 50%,
and upload it here:

thank you so much for your help! i can now open the file in flash. :) I'm very new at this (obviously) and wondered if you could tell me what I need to do in order to edit this file? My client has changes that need to be made, but when I open the flash document, I have an actions layer and layer one with only two frames each and a stop action. If you could help one more time that would be great. Thank you so much!!!!

Also... is there a way to place a preloader between these two files?
To edit this file and adding preloader inbetween file you should have basic knowledge of flash,
select the object on layer one and double click the movieClip on stage to go inside the movieClip

it may be created in higher Flash version and you are trying to open it in lower FLash version.
please confirm that in which version it has been created and what version you are trying to open it.
