The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Flash Development Question

Asked by AEII in Adobe Flash

I have two I hope simple questions I have been researching and since I am a beginner with Flash please excuse them if they are very simple ...

I have been experimenting with getURL to open a HTML page containing an e-mail form using
FP extensions ... the page works fine but I would like the page to maintain a preset popup size and position ... I know how to do this in html, but no matter what I try the page always opens full screen ... I saw an example in Live Docs on the Flash Site of the following that said it worked but does not for me:

In the end, I just had to put two lines in the on(release):
getURL ("javascript:window.open('dateSubmit.html','popped','width=400,height=300,top='+((screen.height/2)-150)+',left='+((screen.width/2)-200)+',toolbar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,menubar=no,status=no,directories=no,location=no'); void(0);");
getURL ("dateSubmit.html", "popped", "POST");

I changed the extension of the page I am using to html instead of the original php ... does this make a difference ?

How can I control the html page from Flash .. or can I ?

Second question is probably more basic ...

I have several popup.swf files that were provided to me as a template to add my own text ...
however when I use them in one page the box seems to cut off and the text behind it as well as a partial image shows through ... I have looked through the fla file several times and can not determine if the size of teh page can be changed to cover the text behind or that the entire page is filled white to cover ... it is strange that half the popup covers and the bottom half does not ???

I can upload the simple fla file for someone look at it if you want ...
