I am working on an Actionscript 3 project and part of the project requires loading text from an XML file and displaying it in an html textbox. Sometimes there will be an <img> tag in the text to be displayed along with it. The problem is that in order for the XML to be valid I have to use quotes in the <img> tag and when that comes in as part of my string to be displayed in Flash the quotes are treated like they are breaking the string.
Here is an example of what is read into Flash:
<b>Text</b><br/><img src="Images/image.png" />More text
Since it's a string Flash reads it as the following when assigning to a text box:
test_txt.htmlText = "<b>Text</b><br/><img src="Images/image.png" />More text";
So you can see where the interior quotes would break the string. The only way I have been able to make the image appear in a text box is to hard code it in a test file where the string looks like this:
test_txt.htmlText = "<b>Text</b><br/><img src=\"Images/image.png\" />More text";
That statement works because of the escape characters keeping the string from breaking.
I have tried using %5C and \ which are the codes for the \ character but they don't get rendered as a \ in the string. I have tried not using quotes in the XML document but of course that doesn't work.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.
