Follow this instruction to uninstall the Flash Player completely and then go to Adobe site to install a new Flash Player...  See if that solves your problem...

It's hard to find the FULL install version of Adobe Flash 9 or 10.

Try filling out this form on Adobe's site to get the FULL Install file.

I wasn't able to find the Full set up version for the current Flash player anywhere on the web.

There is a standalone installer you can find it on the web. But even so, nothing works. Anyone?

So you did try the FULL installer?
If so you can switch to Firefox.  :)

So it sounds like something is blocking the install.  Have you reset all settings in IE to default?
What other software or tool bars are installed in IE?
Have you scanned for spyware?

by: moombazPosted on 2009-03-22 at 19:00:47ID: 23954377

1) I have reset everything to default in IE settings

2) I have scanned for spyware and detected quite a few so I've already cleaned it up.

3) Javascript has already been enabled.

Still, I cannot install. Every possible method I have tried but yet something is still blocking to install. What can be the problem and how do I install it? Help.

I don't think its an IE problem. I can't even install the flash player in my computer. Each time I wanna install, I read the log files, it cannot register flash10.ocx to my registry. So i dun think its IE problem.

by: Compnecessity1Posted on 2009-03-23 at 08:40:38ID: 23958857

It would seem Adobe points you to Microsoft and Microsoft points to Adobe.  What files or registry settings is the real problem we may never know.  At this point I would re-install the OS on that machine.

Did you try installing IE 8?

by: moombazPosted on 2009-03-25 at 18:39:17ID: 23986600

No I didnt. Can it be because of IE and not my windows registry?

by: Compnecessity1Posted on 2009-03-25 at 21:28:39ID: 23987289

It could be, it would be nice if IE could be completly unistalled.

by: moombazPosted on 2009-03-26 at 19:11:02ID: 23997547

yeah. It was first running IE6 so i uninstalled it installed and upgrade it to IE7. Still the same. Anway I already sent the laptop for a clean install of windows.

by: Compnecessity1Posted on 2009-03-26 at 21:15:03ID: 23998018

That's the way to go.  It takes a couple hours to re-load.  And I'm sure you spent more then 2 hours troubleshooting the problem.

Have just been through this exact same process myself.  A lot of people with similar issues and no real answers.  Here is what worked for me:

Use the Adobe uninstaller
Delete all references from program files\system32\macromed - There will be a flash directory with a few files in it....
Run a Registry Cleaner (Crazy I know but desperate times call for desperate measures... make sure you have a system restore\ your Registry is backed up) - I used CC Cleaner

BTW - If the computer is running anything else requiring flash, ensure these are shut down prior to uninstallation ie Yahoo 7, message apps etc.

Go through the install process again - for me it worked (though there was another permissions issue where it failed to run correctly.  This was fixed by other experts and is another story though)

Good luck - hope it works for you - I have burnt many hours on this.

domdiq care to share how the other experts fix it? I have loads of users having this problem. Don't tell me i have to install a fresh copy of windows to all.

by: AzraSoundPosted on 2009-05-16 at 07:33:03ID: 24402730

I struggled with this issue for awhile myself, but ultimately found this workaround...

1) Follow all steps specified regarding uninstalling using Adobe uninstaller and checking security permissions in IE
2) Open regedit and browse to the following key:  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D27CDB6B-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
3) Right-click and choose permissions.  Make sure your login account or a group you belong to has access (full control) to this key.
4) Re-run the standalone installer from Adobe

Nice one AzraSound. Finally. Tried on an affected computer. Changed the permission as stated. Installed successfully.

Anyway, how did you manage to narrow down to the registry file?

by: AzraSoundPosted on 2009-05-17 at 19:44:04ID: 24408748

I noticed the install was failing when trying to register the .ocx file, so I tried manually registering it, and it failed for me as well with a permissions issue.  So I fired up Regmon to see what key it was failing with, then checked permissions on that key, and sure enough...not properly set.

I see. Well done. I think this will help a lot of lost souls around. Thanks man.

Hello

Thought it might be useful to add the solution that worked for me:

It does seem that the problems are related to being able to register the .ocx file. The simplest way round this was to reboot XP into safe mode, log in as Administrator and then run the downloaded install executable from Adobe. This then allows the ocx to register.
Reboot, log back in and everything is running fine.

Hope this helps at least one other person - I searched and tried all sorts of solutions for hours before trying this option that only took 5 minutes to do (have now done this on 2 seperate pc successfully.

cheers

PIp
