The answer given by this expert was basically the issue posed in our question. While it doesn't tell us anything new it does confirm there is nothing that can be done.

Browse All TopicsFor some reason this paticualr FLA file won't open. I have been able to decompile the SWF it made, but I was wondering if anybody is able to open it in a version of Flash other than CS3 or the CS4 that we have.
Thanks in advance.

Which version of flash was it created in? If you cant open it in CS3 or CS4 it's probably too corrupt. If that doesn't work and you want to recover the scripts, try dropping the fla into a good text editor like bbedit and you'll be able to see the script in there.
