Can someone tell me how I can format numbers in Flash so that it will show two decimal places

Hi,
Can someone tell me how I can format numbers in Flash so that it will show two decimal places regardless of the number itself? I'm using the number stepper for forecasting share values and I want to display 2 as 2.00 At the moment the stepper does 1.99, 2, 2.01,2.02 etc

No, this didn't work. Here's an example of what I mean:

Sorry, I should have said I'm using Flash 8 actionscript 2. I think toFixed() is a method of actionscript 3?

Yes, you should have mentioned that cuz that's AS3 syntax...  ;)

You have to come up with your own function in AS2...
Maybe you can borrow it from this thread...

i have a shorter version
not very elegant but it works


//for 2.235 returns 2.24
//for number = 2 returns 2.00

uses math round for normal math rules but you can change that if you want to always round up or down. 

var number:Number = 2.235;
 
var res:String = getAsString(number);
 
function getAsString(num):String {
	var str:String = ""+Math.round(number*100)/100;
	if (str.indexOf(".") == -1) {
		str+=".00";
	}  else {
		str +="";
	}
	return str;
