If the card has a tv-out jack you should be able to do it. I think W98 supports it, don't think 95 does.

The ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 128 does...

It's expensive though...

If you do not need a card with a built in TV tuner try an "ATI Xpert@play"
This has a TV out and plays MPEGS pretty well.

I believe All Windows operating system's support this...  Although you will need to run in a lower resolution as your television may not handle it.

Sorry, I just re-read your question and realised you were asking for a piece of software that can do this ?

What video card do you have ?

I beleive the video card will have to have a video-out jack (or a specific designed cable supplied to achieve this)

Thats what I said, I think 98 has stuff to use it somehow but not very sure, don't use it much... I don't think 95 has anything with it.

Appologies.

Okay, you are talking about multiple monitor support, and you are right, windows 98 does support this natively and you will need special drivers from the hardware manifacturer for the other operating systems.

However, you can use the TV as the primary out, (i.e. the monitor displays the same as the TV) on all Windows operating systems providing you have a video card with a TV out.

Ok, if he has a TV-out then how does he use it?
Can't seem to find any soft.
Or do you just plug it in?

by: coopaPosted on 2000-03-07 at 07:42:17ID: 2591960

Well that depends on the card.... and we are still waiting for that answer  8o)

Either a video out on the card or a scan converter will do it.

by: coopaPosted on 2000-03-15 at 03:15:13ID: 2619290

Okay....
and what video card do you have ?

Try the Voodoo 3 3500 tv. It's the video card I have, and it's reasonably good. It has a tv tuner, and radio tuner. Along with that, it comes with a pod, that allows you the following;  S-Video out, Video out, Sound Left out, Sound right out. The pod also has the same features for input, video in, sound in and so on. Aside from that, you can watch tv on your cpu or listen to the radio... The capture capabilitys are good. I record from the tv at 29.97 or 30 frames a second, and it comes out pretty good. Good luck.

It's not necesary an ATI ALL IN WONDER
You can use an ATI PRO PC2TV
This will take your TV as a monitor

User12345 I am going to lock the question until you post some more info, if you are not going to then you can accept an answer or delete this question.

by: User12345Posted on 2000-04-14 at 17:07:03ID: 2718117

Ok...
What I wanted was to use my MPEG-card (the one I use to show DVD's and MPEG-movies on the TV, a PC DVD-Encore - card) to show other programs (eg. mIRC, Word...) on my TV. I do not want to buy a new card with TV-out.

by: compmaniaPosted on 2000-04-14 at 18:09:38ID: 2718246

I have not used many MPEG cards myself but does it have a TV-out jack?
If not then you might as well accept an answer or delete the question.
If it does then you should be able to plug it into a TV set and it should run.
If you have 98 you might need to install the WinTV stuff.
(it is in add/remove programs)

by: User12345Posted on 2000-04-15 at 08:21:17ID: 2719092

It have both TV-out s-video and phono connector, and I have used it to show movies on my tv. What I want is to view OTHER THINGS THAN films on my tv using the same card that is connected to my tv and can show movies on the TV! *puh*

by: compmaniaPosted on 2000-04-15 at 13:20:43ID: 2719451

Do you have WinTV installed?
Do you use software to view the movies on the TV or is it just Windows Media player?

by: User12345Posted on 2000-04-18 at 03:13:04ID: 2726117

I dont have WinTV installed.
I use the software that followed the card to view movies.

by: compmaniaPosted on 2000-04-18 at 07:52:07ID: 2727166

I would try installing it from start - settings - control panel - add/remove programs - windows setup - WinTV
I will look for a program that will do what you want if that doesn't work.
