erm........ 204,33,33 is not the same as cc,33,33.

204,33,33 is in decimal format. Convert to hex you get:

204 = cc
33 = 21

So your hex code should read: cc2121

And just to let you know, that this is not a web safe colour, so you may get similar issues on different machines.

cc3333 is web safe and the equivalent decimal values are:

204,51,51

Well, no. There are major problems with so called web safe colors when you switch bit depths. They just DONT match up. The best solution is to completely ignore web safe colors and use whatever bloomin' colors you want. Your results will be significantly better.

As a side note those 216 web safe colors, when you take into account, Mac, PC, NS, IE, is really only about 25 reliable colors which are primarily blues and greens. Yuck.

"well no" what?

My point wasn't really about web safe colours, but the fact that the two colours quoted in the question are NOT the same!

Well, no you cant solve the color difference. Its a harsh reality of dealing with the web.

by: a.marshPosted on 2000-10-27 at 14:43:33ID: 4950568

Perhaps, but getting back to the question that the two colours look different, that is because they are not the same!

The 204,33,33 (in decimal) does not convert to cc3333. It converts cc2121, which is the main reason there is a colour difference. And it is likely that it isn't actually that noticeable until you have a lower level of resolution.

You can solve the color difference!!!!

Have you tried inserting in the html:-

wmode="transparent"

immediately after the src of your swf movie????

This then removes the background from your flash movie!

I use it all the time!!!

It works extremely well!

Your color mismatch problem will then be no more!

"I use it all the time!!!

Then I guess you use MSIE all the time, because that's the only browser that supports transparent backgrounds in flash.

ummmm....no netscape is actually adhereing to some raw semblance of a standard. IE is trying to reinvent the web by brute force.

Seems arbitrary considering the number of good comments. Maybe a split.

Split would have been my ideal choice, but its only a 5 points.. min for a split is considered 20.
And lets face it Mr No.1, you're not exactly lacking in points :-p
