No.. if you use the "V" tool (Selection Tool), even if you select an anchor point, it will select the whole object.
It's something else going on..

Browse All TopicsI draw one shape.. I can drag it around freely. I draw a second shape, lasso select both of them.. now if I try to move them, they won't do it. Why? If I shift-click to select both objects, then I can drag. And no, the lasso isn't selecting some other object.. just the two. Any ideas?
Thanks

The V tool is the Object Selection Tool. You cant select anchor points with it.
Are you using the Direct Selection Lasso tool or the Lasso Tool? Are you switching back to an appropriate "mover" when youve got them selected? Use the Selection Tool to move objects selected with the Lasso Tool, and the Direct Selection Tool to move points selected by the Direct Selection Lasso Tool.
No matter whether you're using the 'convert anchor point' tool, the 'direct select lasso' or the 'lasso tool', always hold down CTRL to do your moving. As a matter of fact, if you're just trying to select 2 objects among several from the 'convet anchor point tool' theres no need to have to lasso anything. Just hold down CTRL to select the first object, then Shift as well to select additional objects. Once done selecting, let the Shift key go but continue to hold CTRL and move the objects.
knetyk is pretty much right. You shouldn't have to lasso anything to select the objects to drag them. You should a: use the "v" selection tool (the black arrow) to click the first item then shift-click the second item or b: drag a marquee around both items using the "v" tool. I'm not sure about having to hold down ctrl because I've never had to hold down ctrl to move anything. Once the items are selected you should be able to drag them anywhere with just the "v" tool without holding down ctrl. Note however, you do have to hold down shift if you would like to move the objects either in straight lines at 0 degrees or 90 degrees or along smart guides. Last thing. Make sure your objects are being selected and you didn't accidentally lock them to the artboard. You can unlock items by hitting ctrl+alt+2. hope this helps.

Youre probably selecting only anchor points, not the whole object, hence you cant move it. Use shift-click for multiple objects.
