Video takes forever to load.

I am working on my companies website and have a problem. Now bear with me, cause I did the whole thing without any training. So please use laymen's terms.

Here is the problem. I wanted to put an *.avi file on the site that starts to play once a page in the site opens. It does do this, but it takes forever (about 10 minutes) to load the video. The video is only 2 minutes long. Could there be a problem with the host that we are using? (We are a small company, and we are using an independant company to host the site).

Is there any thing I could possibly do to speed up the process.
