imagemagick install problem

Asked by jhurst in Web Graphics Software

Tags: imagemagick, shared, error, install

I grabbed the binary imagemagick for linux:

ImageMagick-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz

I extracted it, all seemed to go well.

When I run ./convert I get the message.

I have little doubt that I have a missing PATH, my path reads:
/usr/local/jdk/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/guest/bin:/home/guest/ImageMagick-5.5.7/bin

When I run convert, or anything else, I get

./convert: error while loading shared libraries: libMagick.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I am clearly missing something obvious here.
