On many occations it is far cheaper in buying a existing shopping cart solution than developing one yourself. Think about all the database issues, security issues, all the CRM, stock management issues, beta testing etc. if you are actually going to use the cart for e-commerce.
Agree with Ali3D, Comersus is actually a very good ASP shopping cart. Although the free version has many limitations but it's not difficult to implementing those functions by yourself, since the original code was very clear.
