Squeezing Text Into a Circle

Asked by drranson in Web Graphics Software

Tags: text, circle, inside

There are lots of tutorials on placing text on a circular path, but I'm wondering how to squeeze text INSIDE a circle.  For example, I want to take the word "LOVE" and have the word fill a circle, like might be seen on a circular badge or pin button.

About 20 years ago, there was software on the market for printing paper banners (using the old form-fed dot matrix printers), and I remember being able to do this effect with that software.  I don't want to distort the text through a lens, I just want the tops, bottoms, and sides of the letters to expand or contract to fit into the circle.
