Hi, I need some help sorting out Pantone colors and Photoshop.
Around the web eg at
http://www.pantone.com/downloads/articles/pdfs/PANTONE%20Fashion%20Color%20Report%20Fall%2007.pdfI see colors like Pantone "DUSK" 17-3812
But if I go to custom colors in Photoshop CS, none of the Pantone selections seem to have 17-3812 or anything like it (numerically).. they are all, I think, three or 4 digits with a one or two character suffix (C, U, M etc)
So, does Photoshop only do "some" Pantone colors, or are the ones with the 6 digit representation like 17-3812 newer?
By googling 17-3812 I was able to find its CMYK representation, but is there some official online guide where I can look this up?
Final question .. Pantone seems to come as metallic/pastel or solid, with variants coated/process or matte
What does "solid" mean here ? (they all look solid to me)
What is "process"
What is "matte"
And how should I choose amongst the variants, if I am designing a) for a website b) for a sign to be printed on vinyl
Thanks for any dispelling of ignorance here
