The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

you can save it as jpg etc, but adjust the quality to 100%...this might help. Otherwise you could try .bmp as well.

Text can appear distorted if you change the height-width ratio of the image file after you have added the text. Any re-size done should be proportionate (make sure the Constrain Proportions check box is checked in the Image Size window if you re-size the image).

Take a close look at your Anti-Aliasing settings. Anti-aliasing is also known as "text smoothing" to some. In Photoshop you can control this in two places - when you have your Text Tool selected, highlight your text. Then:

1. look at the Control Palette (at the top of your screen) and look for a little "a a" icon that show two letter "a" and a pulldown menu. You have 5 options to play with: none, sharp, crisp, strong, smooth. Try each one of these. With "none" your text will appear pixellated (or "chunky"). The other settings will each render differently.

2. you can find the same pull-down menu in the Character palette (Windows > Character). Again, make sure your text is selected.

------------

The other Experts were right also: make sure your Image settings are at a high quality to prevent distortion, and be careful when you scale your text using Free Transform or even horizontal or vertical scaling. However, this is probably not your issue because you're saying that it appears distorted AFTER you save, and with a scaling problem, you would notice that right in Photoshop.

--------------

The other thing you should consider is HOW are you viewing the JPG, GIF or PNG files? Are you looking at them in some Windows image viewer? Or are you looking at them in a website? If it's in a website, make sure that the <IMG> tag that you're using to display the image doesn't have a "width" or "height" value that may not correspond to the actual width and height of your image.

If you're looking at your image file in a website, take a look at the source code and locate the <img src="myimage.gif"> tag, where "myimage.gif" is the filename of your image. Take a look for a width="xxx" or height="xxx". First, you can try removing them. Just delete that part of the code, leaving the <img src="myimage.gif">. Save the file and take a look again.

---------------

If none of these are your solution, please let us know what you mean by "distorted" and how it is that you are noticing the problem - how are you viewing your image. The more information you give us, the better we can help you.

Good luck,

Tom

if the issue is the actual text quality you may want to create and format your text in freehand or inDesign then turn the text into outlines/paths and paste into the photoshop document.

krisred:  Could you post the exact steps you have done to create the file? That would help us to pinpoint the problem :-)

thank you for all the answers. It was more vector related and smooth anti-liasing
