Figured it out.
You have to format the usb key in NTFS. This allows you to get the maximum out of the USB key.
If you format it in FAT you can only get up to 4G onto the usb.

then what is the difference between your 8GB usb key and a 4GB usb key except for the amount of storable data?

automount should not happen by design, before mounting you would be required to enter you passphrase otherwise it wouldn't protect you......
