Browse All TopicsHi again,
I am also trying to setup an encrypted connection to a location that will serve as a storage facility while I travel for various types of documents/software.
The server operating system will be either Fedora 11 or Windows 2003 standard server edition.
VPN has been suggested as the best option. Can anyone offer a suggestion on a particular piece of software/hardware for a VPN that could be accessed through a webpage from anywhere online?
Thanks in advance.

The most dependable webvpn setup is a cisco asa appliance. This appliance can configure webvpn allowing fileshare access, intranet websites, rdp email and other applications from standard webbrowsers such as internet explorer, mozilla, netscape. All that is needed from the client is a java-enabled machine with the webbrowsers I mentioned. No client software is needed. I am not sure if open vpn using linux offers a webvpn option. Windows server vpn using RRAS does not allow for webvpn access. It uses the built-in windows vpn client.
Cisco is your best bet, although sonicwall and other vendors also offer ssl webvpn also. Cisco deployment offers the best webvpn functionality as I mentioned above for a user.
