When I have a laptop connected to my server over the VPN, I can go to "Start/Run" and type in "\\10.0.1.29" (or whatever IP the laptop has been dynamically assigned) and it will bring it up. However, if I type in the name of the laptop it won't access it. Why is it that I can access the laptop via the IP, but not a named pipe?
This is keeping us from being able to set up replication in MS SQL. The MS SQL Server sees the remote but won't connect to it using the remote name but will connect using the IP. We need for it to use the name. Named Pipes is set to ON at server and remote.
We are connected to the internet through CBeyond. Has anyone had any problems with CBeyond?
