Main Topics
Browse All TopicsWe have created an application in VB.net in a Windows XP environment. We are now attempting to test it on a Vista 64-bit machine. During the installation process, the graph32.ocx fails to register. Though it appears to be present in the sysWOW64 folder, when we attempt to register it by hand, the error message indicates it can't be located. Can anyone help us understand what is happening and what the solution may be?

Sorry, I should have given you more information. It is true that graph32.ocx is an old graph control, however it will run in the VB6 version of our apps, and we are able to install it and to use it on our XP machines and on our Vista 32-bit machines. Since we rewrote our VB6 app in VB.net we have not encountered any problems installing and using the graph32.ocx on XP machines. We have not been able to get our app to run on Vista because of problems installing another file, but we do not encounter a problem installing graph32.ocx on the 32-bit Vista machine. It is only on the 64-bit machine that we encountered a problem installing it.

This web site may have a solution. It states that you need to copy an additional 2 files into the system directory:

Graph32.ocx has been updated to work properly in Visual Basic 5.0 and it
requires two additional support files: gsw32.exe and gswdll32.dll. You must
place the three files together in the \Windows\System directory or the control
will not function properly.
