if my WAR file is named (experts) ... then should i rename it to root ? would that be the soloution ?

I have sucessfully installed tomcat 6 ... i have only one application running in the webapp ..
as for now the website is http://ip/application name ..
how do i point the tomcat server towards the application directly when someone writes http://ip or link

You should keep the web-application on ROOT folder of
$tomcat.home/webapps
