creating a login portlet

I am new to WebLogic.  My office recently purchased WebLogic 8.1.  My tasking is to create a login portlet and a "create new user" jsp.  However, I am not sure how to do it. I have had jsp and servlet classes, but have not done anything in weblogic.  Can you point me in the right direction?
